Description and uses

Glacial acrylic acid is used as a raw material for specialty acrylates, such as trimethylolpropane triacylate for ultraviolet curable (UV-cure) resins. It is also used as the monomer for superaborbent polymers (polyacrylate salts) for personal and baby care products. Sodium acrylate (the sodium salt of glacial acrylic acid) is copolymerized with acrylamide to make an anionic copolymer (a-PAA), which is used as a flocculant in water treatment.
